RLC to build new BPO ofice building in Davao
Business World - By: Maya M. Padillo | September 19, 2016

DAVAO CITY -- Robinsons Land Corp. (RLC) plans to start construction this year of a four-storey business process outsourcing (BPO) building that will become its second BPO facility in the city.

“We have a plan to put up, right in the highway of J.P. Laurel, a four-storey office building, a BPO office building, as we are trying to bring more BPO jobs in Davao,” said RLC President Frederick D. Go in an interview following the launch of the first Go Hotels branch here last week.

Mr. Go said RLC is confident of attracting locators to Davao given their pool of clients around the country. The company currently has office spaces in 13 cities and municipalities, according to its Web site.

“We have a good relationship with many of the major BPO locators in the country,” he said.

In Davao, RLC’s Robinsons Cybergate building, also located along J.P Laurel, houses VXI Global Holdings BV Philippines.

Mr. Go said the new office project, with a floor area of 8,000 square meters, is expected to be completed within an 18-month period.

He added that the Gokongwei’s real estate firm aims “to build more projects in Davao,” but is finding it more challenging now to find “the right piece of land” given the surge in property developments for residential, commercial and office spaces.

“But definitely we’re set to build more things here in Davao City,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Go Hotels Davao, built in partnership with Udenna Development Corp. (UDEVCO), is now fully open following a soft launch in mid-August in time for the Kadayawan, the city’s main annual festival.

“This project is now a reality though we are a little behind schedule... I hope this project leads to more cooperation and a valued relationship from JG Summit (Holdings, Inc.) or Robinsons Land,” said Dennis A. Uy, president of UDEVCO, a Davao-based firm that also owns Phoenix Petroleum Philippines, Inc.

Mr. Go, for his part, said, “This is the first and so far we have not discussed other projects together but I hope this of course that this is the start of more potential partnerships.”

UDEVCO owns the land on which the eight-storey, 183-room hotel stands. With function rooms that can accommodate up to 200 participants, the Davao branch is Go Hotel’s biggest in the provinces.

Go Hotels opened it first Mindanao property in Butuan City in December 2014 and is set to open a third by 2017 in Iligan City.
